The Journey of Social Media

Back in 1997 a site called Six Degrees was born, I personally never used this site but from what I can tell all you could do is upload a profile and make friends. In 1999 the first blogging sites came about which in turn started the social media sensation which is where we are today. As we look back on time our first way to communicate to each other was by letters (remember the days) you had to wait for the person to get your letter and then you sat down and wrote a response. Then came the phone wow what a big change from letters that took weeks to communicate back and forth to picking up the phone and instant answers. Then there were fax machine for documents and sending photos right away. How many still use fax machines today? How about scanners? The internet, IPhone and virtual reality and the future is something I cannot even imagine. We have become so spoiled from the first forms of communication, but with this instant gratification come Social Media that is here to stay. Whether you use it for personal, business, charity events, information and teaching the fundamentals of posting your information can be frustrating. Social Media is the new way to let a large demographic of customers know who you are and why you are doing business. Social media is more than a profile on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and so on. It is where you connect to clients that know, like and trust you. Why are you open for business? Social media is a way we communicate to our potential clients through lead generation.
